Google’s New “Productivity Assistant” That’ll Probably Nag You to Death

Oh great, just what the corporate world needed — another bloody digital “assistant” pretending to make your life easier while actually making you want to throw your laptop into the nearest cubicle wall. According to TechCrunch, Google’s testing some shiny new email-based productivity gremlin that supposedly helps you organise your inbox, summarise crap, and do all your boring grown-up work for you. Because apparently, writing actual emails is now too **f***ing difficult** for humanity.

This thing runs inside Gmail (of course), firing off perky little AI-generated responses, to-dos, meeting summaries, and “productivity insights” you never asked for. It’s like Clippy’s smug digital ghost in a Google hoodie — only this one analyses your emails, your schedule, and probably your soul while pretending to “streamline your workflow.” Translation: it’s watching every goddamn thing you do and judging you for not replying to that one email your boss sent two weeks ago.

Google, bless their data-hungry hearts, says the thing’s built to “enhance focus” and “reduce cognitive load.” Yeah right — nothing boosts focus like getting five simultaneous suggestions on how to apologize for missing yet another meeting. Next thing you know, it’ll be auto-replying to your spouse with “Sorry, I can’t talk, I’m being optimized.”

Bottom line: it’s another AI overlord in your inbox helping you do the stuff you don’t want to do, while quietly siphoning metrics to figure out how lazy you really are. But hey, at least you’ll look productive while it micromanages your bloody life.

Reminds me of the time I wrote a script to auto-delete any email with “urgent” in the subject line. Productivity skyrocketed — mostly because I didn’t have to read any of that pointless crap. And not a single server caught fire… well, not that anyone could prove anyway.
