Google Workspace Password Manager: Yet Another “Brilliant” Way to Lose Sleep
Alright, strap in, you magnificent bastards. The geniuses over at Google have pumped out another brain-melting “security feature” for Workspace — a password manager they call Passwd. Because, of course, what we really needed was another shiny pile of “helpful automation” that’ll happily screw us sideways when it goes wrong.
So, apparently, this thing is supposed to make life *easier* for IT admins. You get centralized control over passwords, sharing, and policies. Great! Because centralizing all your precious login data in one glorified candy jar is what every security pro dreams about at night — when they’re not crying into their beer over the last user who thought “Password123!” was Fort Knox.
In the article, they do a full walkthrough — setting up the bastard, tying it into Workspace, fancy dashboards showing which idiot users still think two-factor is optional, and some pretty visuals that make it all look idiot-proof. Spoiler: It isn’t. Because there’s always that one muppet who’ll store their credentials in a goddamn Post-it note anyway.
Sure, there’s federation support, policy enforcement, and integration with Google Identity Management — which sounds amazing on paper… until some marketing dick toggles the wrong setting, locks out the entire sales department, and then calls IT screaming bloody murder about “Google being down.”
And the cherry on this crap sundae? You know the moment something goes sideways with password sync, all those pretty graphs and compliance dashboards will suddenly mean absolutely fuck-all. You’ll be kicking and screaming through log files at 3 AM wondering why “seamless user experience” feels like being mugged by your own software.
But hey, it’s all in the name of “productivity,” right? Another day, another cloud feature pretending not to be a massive vector for chaos wrapped in a glossy interface. God bless the tech gods and their eternal love of admin misery.

Signoff anecdote: Reminds me of the time a manager asked me why the password policy was “so complicated.” I told him it was to make sure morons like him couldn’t access sensitive data. He laughed. I didn’t. He’s now in sales. I’m still cleaning up passwords with “guest” in them. FML.
