xAI says it raised $20B in Series E funding

xAI Just Hauled In $20B — Because Apparently the Tech Bubble Wasn’t Big Enough

Oh mother of all data centers, xAI’s gone and done it — raised a jaw-dropping $20 bloody billion in a Series E round. Yeah, that’s billion with a ‘B,’ not the kind of “billions” you see in Elon’s Twitter musings at 3 a.m. The man’s usual circus of investors lined up like sheep, all foaming at the mouth to lob cash at yet another AI outfit promising to “redefine intelligence” or some equally pompous nonsense.

Apparently, the dough’s gonna fund their next-gen chatbot and power an “ethical” and “truth-seeking” AI — because obviously, AI made by billionaires has always been known for its moral backbone. Reports say they’re cramming in every server they can find to fuel their chatbot Grok while hiring AI researchers like they’re Pokémon. Meanwhile, the rest of us plebs are still waiting for something that doesn’t hallucinate more than a college kid at Burning Man.

Investors are apparently drooling over the idea that this thing will “compete with OpenAI and Google DeepMind.” Yeah, sure — because what the world really needs right now is another rival AI platform trained to say weirdly polite racist things while pretending it’s solving world hunger. But hey, it’s got Elon’s name on it, so I guess reality doesn’t matter when hype’s paying the bills.

So there you have it — xAI’s now sitting on a mountain of cash taller than Musk’s ego and probably just as unstable. Maybe next week, they’ll raise another trillion for an AI that can “feel emotions” or “replace politicians.” Hah. We should be so lucky.

Reminds me of the time a startup tried to pay me in “exposure” instead of cash. So I exposed their database — to the internet. Funny how quickly they learned the value of real currency after that.
