That’s right, three hundred and fifty billion. Not for curing cancer, not for saving humanity, but for making chatbots that hallucinate facts with the confidence of a lottery winner on their third margarita.

So who’s throwing this mountain of cash at them? Oh, you know, the usual pack of venture capital muppets and “strategic tech partners” who think buzzwords like “constitutional AI” and “alignment” will save them from the robot uprising. The article politely notes that Anthropic’s cozying up with big spenders like Amazon and Google — because nothing says “AI safety” like being funded by corporations that still can’t fix their own damn recommendation algorithms.
