Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7535 (KB5072046): Copilot image descriptions in Narrator, Spotlight refresh, and developer improvements

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7535 – Yet Another Bloody Update

Right, so Microsoft’s back at it again, shoving yet another “groundbreaking” build down everyone’s throats. This time it’s Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7535 (KB5072046) — rolls right off the tongue, doesn’t it? It’s packed full of “improvements” that no one bloody asked for, but hey, someone in Redmond needs to justify their salary.

First up, they’ve decided that Copilot should now describe images for Narrator. That’s right, your operating system now feels the need to tell you what your own bloody pictures are. Because clearly, out of all the problems in Windows, that’s the one we needed sorted. Got 7GB of RAM disappearing every time you look at Task Manager? Nah, let’s make Narrator say, “that’s a picture of a cat.” Brilliant.

Next, the Spotlight wallpaper crap on the lock screen got a “refresh.” Probably means Microsoft couldn’t resist adding more crap you didn’t ask for, like inspirational photos of rocks and beaches you’ll never visit, while chewing through bandwidth like a rabid beaver. Of course, they call it an “enhancement.” I call it a flashing neon sign saying, “We’re still finding ways to waste your CPU cycles.”

Developers also got a few “goodies,” which basically translates to “a bunch of stuff that’ll break your existing code in creative new ways.” Supposedly, there are API and shell improvements. Sure, why not? Maybe next week they’ll “improve” Explorer again by moving everything around just to screw with your muscle memory.

Bug fixes? Of course, there are some, but for every issue they fix, they probably birth three more. It’s the Microsoft Circle of Life — update, reboot, scream, repeat.

Anyway, if you’re into playing Russian Roulette with your OS, by all means, install this shiny build and report bugs that’ll be ignored for three versions. The rest of us will just sit back and keep our sanity for a little while longer.

Reminds me of that time I “upgraded” the office coffee machine firmware and it started demanding a Microsoft account to brew espresso. Users cried, I laughed, then I pulled the plug. Problem solved.
