Belgian Hospital Gets Cyber-Kicked Right in the Servers

Well, isn’t this just a steaming pile of digital crap. The Belgian hospital AZ Monica just got itself thrown into the wonderful world of cyber-chaos after some no-good cyber-arseholes decided to waltz in and fuck everything up. Yeah, apparently someone thought it’d be fun to kick their servers in the teeth hard enough that the entire hospital had to yank the plug on internal systems faster than you can say “ransomware roulette.”

The hospital, which usually focuses on saving lives instead of babysitting broken machines, had to shut down systems across multiple campuses. Appointments and records got tossed into the void because, surprise, without servers, you’re basically running a glorified medieval clinic with Wi-Fi. They’re making “manual processes” work again – you know, pens, paper, maybe a pigeon or two – all because some script-kiddie decided to show off their “skills.”

And of course, the official statement from AZ Monica reads like every other “we’ve got this under control” corporate promise that really means “we’re fucked, give us time.” They’re working with police and cybersecurity experts (AKA the people called in *after* everything’s already burning) to figure out how deep this digital dumpster fire goes. Meanwhile, patient care continues “as much as possible” – translation: your MRI might be rescheduled to sometime after the next solar eclipse.

This is just another day in the wonderful world where hospitals, full of sick people and sensitive data, make perfect targets for the cyber-scum of the internet who think ruining people’s lives is a good way to flex. Bloody marvellous.

Reminds me of the time a bunch of interns “accidentally” deleted the entire customer database and tried to blame it on a power outage. I told them the power wasn’t the only thing going down that day – their access badges were too. Some lessons need to be learned the hard, painful way.
