The AI healthcare gold rush is here

The AI Healthcare Gold Rush – Because Apparently We Didn’t Have Enough Buzzwords Already

Oh great, another bloody tech gold rush — this time it’s “AI in healthcare.” Because obviously what hospitals need right now isn’t more nurses or doctors, but some overhyped algorithm written by a caffeine-soaked engineer who thinks they can “disrupt” cancer with a chatbot. The video on TechCrunch basically shoves the idea that every money-grubbing startup and their dog is diving headfirst into healthcare AI, hoping to dig up a few billion in “investment opportunities.” Spoiler alert: it’s mostly the same AI crap rebranded with words like “patient outcomes,” “proactive care,” and other feel-good buzzwords no one in an actual hospital has time for.

They parade around showing off how AI can predict diseases, streamline diagnostics, and make healthcare more “efficient.” Translation: cut corners, automate compassion, and replace human judgement with silicon guesswork dressed up in PowerPoint slides. It’s all very shiny until some poor sod’s diagnosis gets “optimized” straight into the morgue. Meanwhile, the investors are probably already picking out the color of their new Teslas. Everyone’s screeching about “the future of health” when all they’re really seeing are dollar signs shaped like little stethoscopes.

The punchline is that it’s less about curing people and more about curing spreadsheets. The entire industry’s high on its own machine-learning fumes, convinced that a few lines of code are the Second Coming of modern medicine. Yeah, sure — until it recommends treating migraines with an OS update.

Anyway, if you’ve got a LinkedIn account and zero scruples, now’s apparently a great time to jump on the bandwagon and pretend to care about “saving lives with AI.” Just don’t forget to trademark your bullshit buzzword before the next big round of funding hits.

Signoff: Reminds me of the time I automated the helpdesk ticket system so well it started closing tickets before users even logged them. Management called it “AI innovation.” I called it “peace and f***ing quiet.”
