Google’s Bloody AI Overviews: The Idiot Magnet of the Internet
Right, so apparently Google’s shiny new “AI Overviews” feature — you know, the one that’s supposed to make your search life easier — is also a big, steaming pile of scam bait. Yeah, the same company that can’t tell the difference between an ad and an actual answer is now serving up fake info, dodgy links, and probably a side order of malware while it’s at it. Brilliant. Bloody brilliant.
According to the fine folks over at Wired, scammers are having an absolute field day. They’re stuffing fake sites with keywords, waiting for Google’s AI to scoop that garbage up like a greedy toddler in a sweet shop, and regurgitating it right on top of your search results. So, instead of actual information, you get scammy crap that wants your money, your account details, or your general will to live. AI my arse — it’s more like “Artificial Idiocy.”
Oh, and here’s the kicker — Google’s grand solution to all this? “Be careful out there.” No shit, Sherlock. So apparently, now it’s *your* job to double-check every single link that Google’s AI vomits out because the bloody thing can’t tell if a site’s a legitimate business or some scammer in a basement coding up fake travel deals and crypto bollocks. Look for HTTPS, check the domain, don’t trust anything that sounds like a miracle — you know, the same advice we’ve been ignoring since 2003.
So yeah, AI Overviews might give you an answer faster, but if you’re not careful, it might also introduce you to the nice folks running phishing farms in their mum’s attic. Stay skeptical, or as I like to call it — don’t be a dumbass.

Reminds me of the time a user clicked on an email titled “Urgent: HR Bonus Alert” and ended up mining crypto for a guy named Vlad. Spent three days blaming IT for it too. Some people would fall for a scam written in crayon if it promised them free coffee.
