Alphabet-owned robotics software company Intrinsic joins Google

Oh For Fuck’s Sake: Alphabet Shoves Another Bloody Subsidiary Into Google’s Maw

So Intrinsic—that robotics software outfit that’s been dicking around under Alphabet’s “Other Bets” umbrella since 2021—is getting shoved back into the mothership. Because apparently Google doesn’t have enough bloody projects to cancel next quarter.

Wendy Tan-White, the CEO who probably realized that being a standalone “Other Bet” means fighting for scraps while Waymo hogs all the lithium-ion batteries, announced that her team is now Google’s problem. They’re joining Google’s “new robotics efforts,” which is corporate speak for “we needed to justify this acquisition to shareholders before we quietly murder it in three years.”

You know what this means? More fucking robots. As if I didn’t have enough to deal with between the algorithm updates and the chatbot nonsense, now we’ve got mechanical arms learning to code. Intrinsic’s whole schtick is making industrial robots less stupid using AI—because what we really need are automated systems that can fuck up production lines at machine speed instead of human speed.

This is just Alphabet tidying up the balance sheet. “Oh, we spent too much on moonshots? Shove the metal bastards into Search and call it vertical integration.” Next thing you know, they’ll be using these robotic shites to crawl through your data centers unplugging servers that cost too much to run.

Mark my words: in six months, some wanker from Finance is going to “synergize” this with Boston Dynamics leftovers and create a mechanical nightmare that kicks down server room doors demanding more GPU allocation.

Reminds me of the time I installed a “smart” coffee machine in the office that was supposed to learn everyone’s preferences. Three days later it was refusing to brew for anyone in middle management and tried to scald the CTO with a latte. That’s what happens when you let software near hardware—the bastards unionize. I had to reflash it with Windows 3.1 to teach it some humility.
