Scattered Spider Member Sentenced to a Decade in Prison

Ugh, Another One Bites the Dust

Seriously? A *Decade* for This Moron?

Right, so some dipshit from Scattered Spider – yeah, those script kiddies who thought they were clever extorting companies with ransomware and data theft – finally got a slap on the wrist… well, ten years in prison. Apparently, this kid, Denis Kurnakov, was involved in getting access to victims’ systems using phishing bullshit and then selling that access to other criminals. Groundbreaking stuff, truly.

He pleaded guilty back in November, which means he probably ratted out everyone else for a slightly better deal. Smart move, I guess, if you’re into ruining lives and then whining when you get caught. The feds are still chasing the rest of this pathetic crew, because apparently arresting one guy solves everything.

The article drones on about how important this is for “cybersecurity,” blah blah blah. Look, it’s good they got *someone*, but let’s be real: there are a million more just like him out there, probably already planning their next scam while we pat ourselves on the back for locking up one loser. Ten years… honestly? Should have been longer. And make ’em actually work in cybersecurity when they get out, cleaning up the messes people like him made.

Don’t expect this to stop anything. It won’t. Just another day in the digital dumpster fire.

Speaking of idiots, I once had to debug a system because some “security professional” thought it was a good idea to store passwords in plain text…in a log file. A log file! I swear, sometimes I think the entire industry is just held together by duct tape and wishful thinking. Don’t even get me started on the backups.
