Why the US government is not the savior Intel needs

Intel’s Mess – A Summary (Because You People Can’t Read)

Oh, Great. Intel Needs Rescuing *Again*.

Right, so listen up, you lot. Apparently, Intel’s still floundering in the semiconductor race – shocking, I know. This article basically boils down to: Intel bet big on a bunch of stuff (foundry services, IDM 2.0, chasing TSMC…like a pathetic puppy) and now they’re whining because it didn’t magically work out. They thought the US government’s CHIPS Act would be their personal bailout fund, a free ride to catch up with Taiwan. Newsflash: It isn’t.

The author – and frankly, anyone with half a brain – points out that throwing money at a problem doesn’t fix *bad strategy*. The CHIPS Act is about shoring up domestic supply chains, not propping up one failing company’s ego. Intel needs to actually *compete*, innovate (remember that?), and stop expecting Uncle Sam to hold their hand. They want subsidies for everything, including stuff they promised to do themselves! It’s infuriating.

And the whole “national security” angle? Please. Every company cries national security when they need cash. The government is starting to realize Intel’s plans are more about market share than protecting America. They’re looking at other companies, like Samsung and TSMC (who actually *know* what they’re doing) for funding too. Good. Let them sort it out themselves.

Basically, Intel screwed up, is now surprised that screwing up has consequences, and thinks the government will fix everything. It won’t. They need to get their act together or fade into irrelevance. Honestly, I’m starting to think they *deserve* to fade into irrelevance.

Speaking of incompetence, I once had to debug a routing issue caused by someone hardcoding an IP address into a script…on a production network. Hardcoded! Like it was 1998. The sheer audacity of some people… Anyway, that’s the level of foresight we’re dealing with here – Intel thinking they can just *demand* success. Pathetic.
