Meta to spend tens of millions on pro-AI super PAC

Meta’s Latest Bullshit

Oh, *Now* They Care About AI Regulation?

Right. So, Meta – yeah, that Meta, the ones who spent a decade hoovering up data like it was going out of style and then pretending they had no idea how any of this privacy stuff worked – is suddenly throwing “tens of millions” at a Super PAC to push for… wait for it… *pro-AI regulation*. Seriously? After all that crap, they’re trying to look responsible. It’s like setting your house on fire and then donating to the fire department.

Apparently, they want rules that favor big companies (shocking!) and specifically want to avoid anything that would make them liable for the garbage their AI spews out. They’re calling it “responsible innovation” which is corporate speak for “let us do whatever we damn well please without consequences.” They’ll be focusing on federal legislation, because of course they will. State laws are too… localized and might actually hold them accountable.

The PAC, called Responsible AI Principles, is being run by people who used to work for politicians. Because naturally. Expect a lot of lobbying, slick ads, and probably some bullshit about how AI is going to solve all your problems if you just let Meta control it. Don’t fall for it. It’s a power grab, plain and simple.

Honestly, the whole thing reeks of desperation. They know the tide might be turning, so they’re trying to steer the ship before someone actually makes them answer for their mess. Pathetic.

Speaking of messes… I once had to debug a system where some idiot decided to implement “AI-powered” spam filtering by just randomly blocking email addresses. It worked, in the sense that it blocked *all* emails. The user base was not amused. Turns out, “random” isn’t a strategy. Just like Meta thinking they can buy their way out of responsible AI development.
