WhatsApp Issues Emergency Update for Zero-Click Exploit Targeting iOS and macOS Devices

Ugh, Another WhatsApp Mess

Seriously? *Another* WhatsApp Security Hole?!

Right, listen up. Apparently, some researchers found a zero-click exploit – meaning you don’t even have to do anything for your phone to get pwned – in WhatsApp that affects iOS and macOS. Fantastic. Just what we needed.

It’s a video call issue, specifically how WhatsApp handles those calls. Some dodgy code lets attackers install spyware. They’re saying it was used in “targeted attacks,” which means someone important got their stuff compromised, so *now* they care. Bet your bottom dollar the average user was already screwed for weeks before anyone noticed.

Meta (because of course it’s Meta) has released an emergency update to fix this shitshow. You better install it. NOW. Both iOS and macOS users need to get on this, or you’re basically handing your data over on a silver platter. They claim it affects WhatsApp versions prior to v2.25.1.64 for iOS and v0.13.28 for macOS.

Honestly, I’m starting to think WhatsApp is just a honeypot at this point. A beautifully designed, end-to-end encrypted honeypot… that gets riddled with vulnerabilities every other Tuesday. Don’t trust it. Seriously.

Speaking of spyware, I once had to clean up a system where some idiot clicked on *everything*. Everything. Phishing emails, pop-up ads promising free iPhones, links from Nigerian princes… it was a disaster. Took me three days and a whole lot of caffeine just to get the rootkits off. Don’t be that guy. Update your damn software.
