FBI warns seniors are being targeted in three-phase Phantom Hacker scams

Ugh, Another Scam. Seriously?

The FBI is Bothering *Me* About This…

Right, so the Feds are flapping their gums about some new scam targeting seniors. Apparently, these poor sods are getting hit with a three-phase bullshit operation they’re calling “Phantom Hacker” scams. Like we don’t have enough problems.

Here’s the gist, because I *guess* I have to: First, some dipshit calls pretending to be tech support – surprise, surprise. They try to get remote access to your computer. Then, they “discover” a bunch of “issues” (fabricated, naturally) and demand money for fixes. And finally, the real kicker? They convince you someone *else* is hacking you and want even MORE money to protect you from this phantom threat. It’s layers upon layers of idiocy.

They’re stealing bank account info, login credentials, the usual crap. The FBI says losses are in the millions – MILLIONS! And they’re blaming it on a bunch of overseas call centers. No shit, Sherlock. Like that’s news.

The advice? Don’t answer random calls. Don’t give anyone remote access to your machine. And for the love of all that is holy, if someone tells you you’re being hacked, hang up and call a *real* tech person – not some random number they gave you. It’s basic common sense, people! But apparently, common sense isn’t so common anymore.

Honestly, I’m starting to think we should just let Darwin sort this one out. It would be less annoying than the FBI issuing warnings every five minutes about scams that are as old as the internet itself.

Speaking of idiots, I once had a user who thought their password was “password123”. I swear to god. They got owned so fast it wasn’t even funny. And then they blamed *me* for the breach. Some people are beyond help.
