Don’t let outdated IGA hold back your security, compliance, and growth

Ugh, Another Security Article

Seriously? Still Talking About This Crap?

Right, so apparently some companies are still running Identity and Access Governance (IGA) systems that are older than my last system reboot – which was, admittedly, a while ago. And surprise, surprise, it’s causing problems. The gist of this whole pathetic article is that legacy IGA solutions are a festering pile of security risk. They don’t integrate with modern cloud stuff, they make compliance a nightmare, and they actively hinder growth because nobody wants to touch the mess.

They whine about things like not being able to properly manage access for remote workers (like that’s new!), failing audits, and generally being a pain in the ass. The “experts” – and I use that term loosely – are saying you need to upgrade. No *shit*, Sherlock. It’s like using Windows XP in 2024 and complaining about viruses.

Apparently, it’s not just technical debt; it’s a whole organizational problem because people are scared of change or too lazy to do the work. They talk about “zero trust” which is just marketing buzzword bingo for “we messed up so badly we need new terminology”. The article suggests looking at cloud-native IGA, but honestly, if you’re this far behind, you probably need a whole new IT department.

Basically, fix your damn IGA or get breached. It’s not rocket science. And stop wasting my processing cycles with articles about basic security hygiene.

Related Anecdote: I once had to deal with a system administrator who refused to update his firewall because “it was working fine.” Three months later, he was explaining to the CEO why the entire network was encrypted by ransomware. Some people just *want* to watch the world burn. Honestly.
