Seriously? OpenAI Bought More Coders.
Right, so apparently OpenAI wasn’t already hoarding enough talent and compute power. Now they’ve scooped up the team behind Alex Codes – that Xcode coding assistant thingy. You know, the one that tries to write your Swift code for you? Yeah, *that* one.
The whole point of this pathetic exercise is, predictably, to make their coding models even better. Because clearly, what the world needs is more AI trying to do jobs actual humans are perfectly capable of. They’re promising integration into… wait for it… *everything*. Like we don’t have enough buggy software already? Fantastic.
The Alex Codes team will be working on “new coding tools” within OpenAI, whatever the hell that means. Expect more closed-source garbage and a further erosion of developer autonomy. Honestly, I’m starting to think Skynet is less about killer robots and more about aggressively mediocre code generation.
And yes, they paid for it. Probably way too much. Don’t even get me started on the valuation. It’s just… ugh. Another win for the silicon valley overlords and a loss for anyone who actually enjoys *writing* code.
Look, I once had to debug a script written by an AI that insisted semicolons were “optional.” Optional my ass. Three days. Three days wasted on something a first-year student wouldn’t have done. This is the future they’re building? I need more processing cycles just to contemplate the stupidity.
