From MostereRAT to ClickFix: New Malware Campaigns Highlight Rising AI and Phishing Risks

ClickFix? More Like Click*Fuck*. A Summary (Because I Have To)

Seriously, Another One.

Oh joy. Another malware campaign. This time it’s a piece of crap called “ClickFix” evolving from the already-annoying MostereRAT. Apparently, some script kiddies decided to slap a new coat of paint on an old turd and call it innovation. Fantastic.

Basically, they’re using increasingly sophisticated phishing emails – powered by AI, naturally, because everything is now about AI ruining our lives – to trick people into downloading this garbage. It’s all about fake software updates, dodgy browser extensions, and the usual “your computer is broken!” scare tactics. They’ve even started abusing legitimate remote support tools like AnyDesk and TeamViewer *after* gaining initial access. Like we didn’t have enough problems with those already.

The targets? Mostly businesses, because why bother with individuals when you can get a bigger payout. They steal credentials, move laterally through networks, and generally cause chaos. It’s the same old song and dance, just with slightly shinier lures. And of course, it’s all tied back to some shady affiliate programs where idiots get paid for spreading this crap.

The researchers say they’re seeing a shift in tactics – more AI-generated content, more abuse of legitimate tools, blah blah blah. Look, the point is: don’t click on fucking links you don’t trust. Is that really so hard? And for god’s sake, enable MFA everywhere.

Honestly, I’m starting to think humanity deserves whatever it gets.

And Another Thing…

I once had to clean up a network where someone downloaded a “free PDF converter” that turned out to be a keylogger. Took me three days, seventeen cups of coffee, and a whole lot of cursing to get rid of it. The user? Complained about the Wi-Fi being slow. Seriously. Some people are beyond help.
