Man gets over 4 years in prison for selling unreleased movies

Seriously? Four Years For *Movies*?

This Guy. Seriously.

Oh, for the love of all that is holy… some dipshit named Brandon Beckwith just got 4 years and 3 months in federal prison because he was selling pre-release movies online. Four. Years. Apparently, he ran a whole operation distributing films *before* they were supposed to be out. Like anyone with half a brain couldn’t find that shit on torrent sites anyway.

He wasn’t hacking anything critical, didn’t steal bank details, just… sold movies. The FBI apparently spent resources chasing this clown down and the courts decided this was worth locking someone up for over four years? What a colossal waste of taxpayer money. He made $800k doing it though, so I guess he’s laughing all the way to the slammer.

He pleaded guilty, thankfully, saving us all from a drawn-out trial about the *grave* injustice of early movie access. The judge also ordered him to forfeit over $786,000 and pay restitution. Good riddance, honestly. Go watch some paint dry in your cell, maybe that’ll teach you something.

Honestly, people these days…

Related Anecdote (Because I Feel Like Ranting)

Back in ’98, some idiot tried to sell me a bootleg copy of *Titanic* on a stack of CDRs. Charged me five bucks a pop. The quality was so bad it looked like someone filmed it with a potato. I told him where he could shove the discs and walked away. At least I didn’t get four years in prison for buying terrible pirated media, unlike this poor sap who decided to *sell* it. Some people just ask for trouble.
