Oh, Joy. Another Forced Update From Microsoft
Right, listen up you lot. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom (and by ‘wisdom’, I mean blatant disregard for user autonomy), is shoving Copilot – that AI chatbot thingy – down everyone’s throats starting in October. Yes, forcing it onto enterprise Microsoft 365 licenses. E1 and E3 users get a watered-down version, because apparently they aren’t worthy of the full experience. E5? You get the whole shebang whether you *want* it or not.
They’re claiming this is about “value” and “productivity.” What it really is about is getting more data to feed their AI overlords, and probably making your already bloated Office apps even slower. And don’t think you can just disable it easily; they’ve made that a right pain in the arse for admins. You need to fiddle with PowerShell scripts and licensing – because *obviously* making things difficult is part of their business model.
There’s some talk about “targeted rollout” but let’s be real, it’ll be everywhere before you can say “blue screen of death.” They’re also conveniently glossing over the privacy implications. Expect more data harvesting and who knows what else. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust this thing to order a pizza without screwing it up.
So yeah, prepare for Copilot. Prepare for frustration. And prepare for Microsoft to once again treat you like an idiot. You’ve been warned.
Speaking of forced updates, I once had to roll back a Windows 10 feature update on *three hundred* machines because it bricked the audio drivers. Three. Hundred. And you know what Microsoft’s support said? “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” I swear, sometimes I think they just generate random error messages and hope for the best. Don’t even get me started on telemetry…
