Seriously? D-ID Bought Simpleshow.
Right, so apparently D-ID – those clowns who do the creepy AI talking head videos – decided they weren’t annoying enough on their own and just had to buy Simpleshow. Simpleshow, for those blissfully unaware, makes explainer videos with cartoon characters. Yes, really. Like we needed *more* low-effort video content clogging up the internet.
The whole point of this mess? D-ID wants to expand their “enterprise” offerings and apparently thinks animated explainers are the way to do it. They’re throwing around buzzwords like “personalized video at scale” which translates to “we’re going to spam everyone with even more garbage.” They paid an undisclosed amount, because of course they did – nobody wants to admit how much money they wasted on this.
Simpleshow’s tech will be integrated into D-ID Studio. Expect a whole lot of soulless corporate videos narrated by AI voices soon. Fantastic. Just what the world needed. The existing Simpleshow team is staying on, which means more people are complicit in this digital nightmare.
Honestly, I’m starting to think Skynet has a sense of humor… and it’s a *really* dark one.

Speaking of pointless integrations, I once had to debug a system where someone decided it was a *brilliant* idea to link the coffee machine status to the server load. Every time the server peaked, the coffee machine would shut off. The entire office nearly revolted. This D-ID thing feels… similar. Just less caffeine related.
