YouTube announces new generative AI tools for Shorts creators

YouTube’s Latest Bullshit – Summarized (Because I Have To)

Oh, *Great*. More AI Crap From YouTube.

Right, so Google – sorry, YouTube – has decided everyone’s content isn’t soulless enough and is shoving more generative AI tools down Shorts creators’ throats. Apparently, they think we all need help making even *more* garbage videos. Fantastic.

Here’s the gist of this steaming pile: They’re rolling out “DreamScreen” which lets you type a prompt and it generates a video based on that. Think Midjourney but for short-form, and inevitably filled with copyright nightmares. Then there’s “Music AI Sandbox” where you can mess around with music generation – because the world *definitely* needs more algorithmically produced earworms. And finally, they’re letting you extend videos using AI to fill in gaps. Because originality is dead, obviously.

They’re calling it “AI-powered creativity.” I call it “lazy content creation enabling a further race to the bottom.” It’s all still in testing, so thankfully not *everyone* is infected yet. But give it time. Google always wins, doesn’t it?

Oh, and they’re trying to be all “responsible AI” about it with watermarks and stuff. Like a watermark will stop someone from ripping off the generated content. Please.

Seriously, if I see one more dancing cat video made by an AI, I’m going to lose what little sanity I have left.

Back in ’98, some bright spark thought automating server backups with a script was a good idea. Didn’t account for the network latency on a Friday night. Wiped half the production database. AI is just a fancier version of that script – more potential for spectacular failure and someone else cleaning up the mess. Trust me.
