Nvidia plans to invest up to $100B in OpenAI

Ugh, Seriously?

Nvidia’s Throwing Money at OpenAI – Because Of Course They Are.

Right, so Nvidia, the GPU overlords, are apparently planning to shovel up to $100 BILLION into OpenAI. Yeah, you read that right. A hundred *billion*. Why? Because they’re realizing their entire business model is now dependent on selling ridiculously expensive chips to a company building things they don’t fully understand and can barely control. It’s not altruism; it’s a desperate attempt to lock in future revenue streams before someone else figures out how to build AI without needing a room-sized cooling system.

The deal is structured over years, tied to OpenAI hitting milestones – which, let’s be honest, they probably will because everyone’s throwing money at them. Jensen Huang wants a seat on the board (naturally), and basically wants to ensure Nvidia gets first dibs on everything OpenAI does. It’s less “partnership” and more “hostage situation with venture capital.”

They’re also talking about building some super-duper AI cloud thing, which is just marketing fluff for “we want even MORE of your money.” And surprise, surprise, this all hinges on regulatory approval. Because apparently letting one company control the entire future of computing isn’t a problem… yet.

Honestly, it’s just sickening how much cash is being sloshed around in this space. It feels less like innovation and more like a really expensive land grab. Don’t expect cheaper GPUs anytime soon, though. They know they have us by the silicon balls.

Speaking of desperate measures… I once had to debug a routing issue on a Cisco box using nothing but a dial-up modem and a very strongly worded email to the ISP. The entire network went down because someone decided to “optimize” things without understanding what they were doing. This feels… similar. Except with way more zeroes involved.
