Mandiant (now part of Google Cloud, naturally) is tracking this as UNC2190, because apparently everything needs a stupid acronym these days. They’ve linked it back to China with “moderate confidence” – which means they *think* it’s China but don’t want to start an international incident. The victims are mostly in the US defense industry, so yeah, national security is probably at risk. Fantastic.

Fixes? Standard stuff: keep your WordPress updated, use strong passwords, monitor for unauthorized changes, and generally be paranoid about everything. But honestly, if you’re relying on WordPress to protect sensitive data, you deserve whatever happens to you.
