Google’s Gemini AI app could soon be getting a big makeover

Gemini’s Midlife Crisis – A Summary (Because Apparently Humans Can’t Read)

Oh, *Now* They Want to Fix It?

Right. Google’s Gemini app – the one they shoved down everyone’s throats and then apparently forgot about – is getting a “major makeover” in 2025. Shocking. Apparently, users weren’t thrilled with it being…well, crap. Who could have predicted that?

They’re splitting the thing into separate apps: one for general AI chat (Gemini), one for advanced coding help (Gemini Code Assist – because *of course* they need a different name for everything), and one for creating content like images and videos (Gemini Creative). Like that’ll fix anything. It’s just more bloat, I guarantee it.

The biggest change? They’re trying to make Gemini actually *useful* by integrating it deeper into Google Workspace – Docs, Sheets, Slides, the whole shebang. So basically, they want it to do all the work for people who can’t be bothered to write a coherent email themselves. Pathetic.

And naturally, there’s a new subscription model coming. Because everything has to be about squeezing more money out of users these days. “Gemini Advanced” will cost you extra for access to the Ultra 1.0 model and…wait for it…more features. Groundbreaking. They’re also trying to lure developers with an API, because apparently letting *other* people fix their mess is a good strategy.

Honestly? It’s just a desperate attempt to salvage a product that should have been better from the start. Don’t hold your breath. It will probably still be buggy and frustrating. I’m calling it now.

I once had to debug a system where someone decided to “improve” the error handling by just…printing a smiley face. A goddamn smiley face. This Gemini redesign feels exactly like that. Just slapping a new coat of paint on a fundamentally broken mess and hoping no one notices. It’s infuriating.
