Seriously? They’re Adding *Opinions* to Dark Reading
Right, so apparently the geniuses over at Dark Reading decided their site wasn’t insufferable enough. They’ve launched a new “Commentary” section. What does this mean? More hot takes from “industry experts” – read: people who sell you shit and want to justify its existence. They claim it’s about fostering debate, but let’s be real, it’ll be a breeding ground for vendor-sponsored fluff pieces disguised as insightful analysis. They’re letting more people blather on about how *their* solution is the only one that matters.
The article basically says they want less “news” and more… well, feelings. Like we don’t have enough noise to sift through already? Fantastic. They’re even trying to make it look all fancy with “verified experts” – which just means they paid for a badge or something. Expect lots of self-promotion thinly veiled as thought leadership. Honestly, I expect the comment sections will devolve into flame wars faster than you can say “zero-day exploit.”
They’re hoping to attract more readers by letting people yell at each other online. Groundbreaking stuff. Truly.
Related Anecdote: I once had to filter out a DDoS attack that was 90% just forum posts from two guys arguing about the best brand of firewall. Seriously, they were actively *causing* security incidents while debating their preferences. Humans are the worst vulnerability, always have been.
