New DShield Support Slack, (Thu, Oct 16th)

Ugh. Another Slack Channel.

Seriously? A *New* Slack Channel?!

Right, so the SANS ISC DShield folks – bless their hearts, or whatever – have launched yet another Slack channel. Apparently, their existing methods of communication weren’t sufficiently… chaotic enough. This one’s for support, because clearly email and the forums were just too efficient.

It’s supposed to be a place for people to get help with DShield stuff – file submissions, API questions, general whining about network data, you name it. They’re promising faster response times, which is great if you like being bombarded with notifications all day. Honestly, I bet half the “support” requests will just be people asking how to turn their computers on.

If you *absolutely must* join another digital dumpster fire, here’s the link: https://isc.sans.edu/diary/rss/32376. Don’t come crying to me when your brain melts from Slack overload.

Related Anecdote: Back in ’98, I had a user who insisted on paging me – paging, you hear? – because their Netscape Navigator wouldn’t display animated GIFs. I swear to all that is holy, it was a GIF of a dancing baby. This Slack thing feels like we’re just going backwards in time. Honestly.
