Europol Brings Down the Mother of All SIM Farms – 49 Million Fake Accounts Bite the Dust
Oh, bloody fantastic – Europol decided to actually do some work for once and nuked a massive SIM farm operation that was churning out fake accounts faster than a caffeine-addled intern writing phishing emails. Apparently, some criminal geniuses were running a global network across several countries, using tens of thousands of SIM cards to crank out 49 million fake social media accounts. You heard that right – forty-freaking-nine million! That’s enough fake influencers to fill the entire internet with “inspirational” bullshit until humanity collapses from stupidity.
The masterminds behind this digital diarrhea were automating scams, spam, disinformation, and identity theft operations – the usual cybertrash buffet. Europol, together with law enforcement mobs from Spain, Austria, and Poland, kicked in some doors, seized warehouses full of tech junk and SIM cards, and probably ruined some scammer’s day. Boo-fucking-hoo. The report says these SIM farms were powering major fraud, helping shady bastards bypass verification systems and peddle fake crap to unsuspecting idiots online.
So, after years of letting this festering mess grow, the cops finally cleaned a bit of digital graffiti off the internet wall. Congrats, I guess. Of course, in true whack-a-mole fashion, ten more assholes will pop up next week doing the exact same thing, because crime online is infinite and humanity just can’t help itself.

Reminds me of the time I caught an entire department running 200 “temporary” test accounts on our corporate email system, each one subscribed to a different spam newsletter. I deleted the lot and told them I’d moved their “test environment” to /dev/null. They’re still complaining about missing “important” cat meme subscriptions.
