U.S. Prosecutors Nail a Bunch of So-Called Cybersecurity Pros for Playing Both Sides of the Damn Fence
So here we bloody go again — another batch of “cybersecurity professionals” who apparently decided that protecting systems wasn’t nearly as much fun as f*&king robbing them. According to U.S. prosecutors (who must be getting sick to death of this nonsense), a few so-called experts have been indicted for cozying up to the delightful bastards in the *BlackCat* ransomware gang — one of the nastiest data-mangling crews out there.
These geniuses allegedly thought it was a cracking idea to run their legit security work by day and moonlight with ransomware lowlifes by night — because, hell, why not make cash both stopping AND causing cyber disasters, right? FBI and DOJ weren’t too thrilled about this “entrepreneurial spirit,” so now these idiots are facing charges that could have them counting the cracks in a prison ceiling for a few decades. Boo-f*&king-hoo.
The indictment apparently drops the hammer pretty hard — conspiracy, wire fraud, laundering crypto like they’re running a goddamn Bitcoin car wash — the whole nine yards. Authorities also made it clear they’ve had enough of these supposed “insiders” turning out to be cyber mercenaries. Meanwhile, the cybersecurity community is collectively facepalming so hard the echo can be heard in space.
Moral of the story? If your plan to get rich involves joining the very ransomware gang you’re supposed to be defending against, maybe — just maybe — you’re too stupid for cybersecurity. Or life, really. The prosecutors aren’t amused, the hackers are nervous, and the rest of us are left cleaning up digital diarrhea they helped create. Typical bloody Tuesday.

Reminds me of the time some junior admin thought he’d be clever and install “free monitoring software” from a random forum on the core server. Let’s just say his career path got a hard reboot, and his access rights were terminated with extreme prejudice.
