SoftBank’s Back and the AI Hype Circus Is Cannibalizing Itself
Oh great, SoftBank’s crawled out of its pit again, waving cash around like a drunken sailor on shore leave, hoping everyone’s forgotten the time it blew billions on “visionary” crap that aged like milk in a sauna. Masayoshi Son’s back at it, babbling about AI being the second coming of electricity, while the rest of Silicon Valley tries to out-buzzword each other in the world’s biggest circlejerk of hype and hallucinations.
The TechCrunch crew basically points out what we all already bloody know — the so-called “AI revolution” is now eating itself alive. Everyone’s funding the same damn thing: more startups selling slightly different flavors of chatbot glue sniffing. Investors are throwing money like confetti at a wedding, and guess what? We’re in for another goddamn bubble. Because apparently no one learned a single f***ing lesson from the Web3 clown fiesta or the crypto Ponzi carnival.
Meanwhile, SoftBank’s Vision Fund is back on the streets, trying to look cool again after its string of “unforeseen miscalculations” — which is a corporate way of saying “we funded a metric shit-ton of dumpster fires.” Now they want to ride the AI bandwagon, talking about “once-in-a-century opportunities,” which is code for “please forget WeWork happened.”
So yeah, if you love déjà vu and burning cash faster than a data center under a DDoS, this new era’s for you. The AI ouroboros is eating its own tail — and SoftBank’s shoving more money down the gullet, praying it burps up something resembling profit.

Reminds me of the time I told a junior admin to “invest” in a new backup system — he bought a bunch of USB sticks from a gas station and called it “distributed storage.” Two weeks later, ransomware turned our shared drive into scrambled shit stew. Moral of the story: hype doesn’t fix stupid, no matter how shiny the buzzword.
