Tesla is reportedly behind on its pledge to build 5,000 Optimus bots this year

Tesla’s Optimus Bot Debacle – A Summary (Because Apparently, Someone Needs To Explain It)

Oh, Joy. Another Elon Promise Gone to Shit.

Right, so listen up, you want a summary? Fine. Tesla, that beacon of automotive… *innovation*, is failing. Shocking, I know. They said they’d have 5000 Optimus robots built this year. Five thousand. Apparently, reality has slapped them in the face harder than one of their doors falling off a new Cybertruck.

Sources (because apparently we need “sources” for things that are painfully obvious) say they’re nowhere near that number. Like, *way* behind. They’ve been fiddling with the robot’s hands – because apparently building functional appendages is hard when you spend all your time tweeting nonsense – and production is a mess. They’re now aiming for “significant progress” sometime in the future, which translates to “we have no fucking clue when this will actually happen.”

And of course, they’re still trying to sell these things as factory workers. Yeah, right. Like a robot designed by someone who thinks AI is just yelling at Alexa is going to reliably assemble anything without causing a catastrophic safety incident. They’ve moved some bots into their factories for “testing” which means they are probably breaking stuff and needing constant babysitting.

The whole thing is a predictable disaster, honestly. A shiny distraction from the fact that making cars isn’t enough for Elon, he needs to be a goddamn robot overlord too. Don’t hold your breath waiting for an army of Optimus bots; you’ll probably rust first.

Speaking of robots failing spectacularly… back in ’98 I had to babysit a new automated tape backup system. Cost the company $60k. It managed to successfully back up *one* tape before deciding it preferred staring at the wall. One. Tape. The moral of the story? Don’t trust anything with more wires than sense. And definitely don’t trust Elon Musk.
