Another Glorious Clusterfuck: Palo Alto GlobalProtect Portals Under Siege
Oh joy, another digital dumpster fire. Seems like the cyber-scumbags of the internet have decided to have a go at Palo Alto’s GlobalProtect VPN portals. A shiny new wave of brute-force login attempts is hitting networks worldwide, because apparently no one’s learned to use proper damn passwords since 1992. The attackers are hammering these portals like a bored intern on energy drinks, trying to break in and snatch whatever they can find.
According to the report, most of these login attempts smell like they’re coming from compromised devices—bots, zombie toasters, and whatever IoT crap people plug into their networks these days. The goal? Sneak into orgs that left their VPNs exposed to the internet, like digital “kick me” signs taped to their firewalls. Seriously, it’s the same old sad story: admins deploy fancy security hardware, then leave the doors wide open with default logins or lazy password policies. Bravo, folks. Bravo.
BleepingComputer says vendors spotted this nonsense picking up late last month, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. Palo Alto, of course, is telling everyone to stop being idiots and enable actual security features—like locking out failed logins, enforcing multi-factor auth, or maybe not having admin panels publicly visible from space. But hey, why fix the roof when you can just wait for the rain and complain that everything’s wet?
So yeah, the usual cyber dumpster inferno: dumb users, exposed systems, automated attacks, and one more headline reminding us that IT security is held together by duct tape, caffeine, and pure hatred.

Reminds me of that one time I told the network guy to close off a management port, and he said, “It’s fine behind a firewall.” A week later he’s crying about being “hacked.” No shit, Sherlock. Firewalls don’t fix stupid.
