Microsoft Entra PowerShell v1.1.0 removes Graph version pinning, adds device and service principal filtering

Microsoft Entra PowerShell v1.1.0 – Because Apparently We Weren’t Annoyed Enough Already

So Microsoft decided to drop version 1.1.0 of Entra PowerShell, and holy hell, it’s another round of “let’s fix one damn thing and break two more.” The geniuses in Redmond have now removed Graph version pinning – which means your scripts that depended on specific API versions? Yep, those are now officially up shit creek without a paddle. Because why make it predictable when you can make it a surprise every goddamn time?

The one silver lining in this flaming dumpster of an update is that they finally added device and service principal filtering. Woo-freakin’-hoo – we can now filter devices and service principals properly like it’s some sort of revolutionary concept from the future. It’s handy as hell, but let’s be real: they could’ve added that without yanking out version pinning, but nooo, that would’ve been too sensible and wouldn’t have generated enough gray hairs in the admin community.

Oh, and they’ve renamed some cmdlets, shuffled parameters, and generally made sure anyone with automation scripts now spends their next weekend screaming into the void while debugging crap that used to work perfectly fine yesterday. Classic Microsoft: give with one hand, punch you in the face with the other.

So yeah, update to Entra PowerShell v1.1.0 if you like playing Russian roulette with your admin scripts. Just be ready to explain to management why half your provisioning jobs died in a fiery explosion of API inconsistency.

Reminds me of the time I “upgraded” a monitoring agent that decided uninstalling the NIC drivers was part of its process. The outage was epic, the rage was biblical, and the server still gives me side-eye in the rack. Cheers,
