Romanian Energy Provider Gets Shafted by “Gentlemen” Ransomware
Oh fantastic, another bloody ransomware mess — this time some Romanian energy provider called Electrica Furnizare got its digital pants pulled down by a bunch of self-proclaimed “Gentlemen.” Yeah, because nothing says “gentlemanly conduct” like encrypting servers, nicking data, and holding it hostage like the bloody villains in a bargain-bin Bond movie.
These charming pricks apparently got into the company’s SharePoint systems — probably through the usual dumbass route of someone clicking a link that said “TotallyNotAVirus.exe” — and then proceeded to dump a massive chunk of sensitive files online. We’re talking passports, contracts, client info — all the juicy crap that shouldn’t have been anywhere near a publicly exposed system in the first place. But sure, let’s just keep using “password123” for root accounts. What could possibly go wrong?
The ransomware gang, calling themselves “Gentlemen,” boasted about the hit like a toddler showing off a poop drawing. They even posted screenshots and some data samples as if the whole planet needed proof of how utterly incompetently secured the target was. Meanwhile, Electrica’s busy running crisis control, swearing it’s handling the incident while trying not to look like a cyber-illiterate clown show.
No word yet on ransom payments, negotiations, or even whether anyone at Electrica has figured out how to spell “backup.” All we can say is that once more, someone’s IT team is probably curled up in a server room corner right now, sobbing into their half-empty can of energy drink, wondering why they didn’t just become a goat farmer instead.

Reminds me of the time some middle manager at a past gig deleted the entire VM cluster because “the disks looked full,” then asked if we could “just get it back.” Yeah mate, sure — let me just pull it out of my asshole along with your career prospects.
