Gmail debuts a personalized AI Inbox, AI Overviews in search, and more

Gmail’s New AI Crapfest — Because Apparently, We Needed More Algorithms Deciding Our Lives

So, the wizards at Google have decided that your inbox wasn’t already enough of a digital landfill, so they’ve lobbed some new AI “magic” into Gmail. Yeah, you heard me — a so-called Personalized AI Inbox that’s supposed to sort your messages like some kind of clairvoyant secretary. Because obviously you’re too much of a useless meatbag to click “archive” yourself, right?

The bloody thing now reads all your emails, learns what’s “important,” and probably judges your life choices while it’s at it. It’ll highlight the “good stuff” — like your boss emailing at 2 a.m. — and conveniently bury things you actually care about under a pile of “AI-generated insights.” And if that’s not invasive enough, they’ve also gone and shoved AI Overviews into Search. That means the stupid machine now decides what snippets of info it thinks you need before you even click a result. Because clearly the last twenty years of clicking links was too hard for humanity.

Oh, and did I mention Gmail’s now being all “personal”? Yeah, like that drunken uncle who wants to “get to know you better.” Expect summaries, suggestions, and prompt replies written in the soulless tone of a machine that thinks “Have a nice day” is emotional depth. They’re dressing it up as productivity, but let’s be honest — it’s just Google finding new, creepier ways to monetize your pathetic digital existence.

Next time somebody tells you AI is here to make life easier, remind them that’s what they said about Clippy. And look how that went.

Reminds me of the time some genius tried to “automate” ticket assignments on the helpdesk. The system decided I should handle 400 of them because apparently I “solve problems fast.” Yeah, I shut it off with a hammer. Fast enough for you, you silicon-brained twits?
