Humans&, a ‘human-centric’ AI startup founded by Anthropic, xAI, Google alums, raised $480M seed round

Humans& — Yet Another “Revolutionary” AI Startup With Enough Cash to Buy a Small Moon

Right, so apparently a bunch of ex–Anthropic, xAI, and Google geniuses decided the planet didn’t have enough bloody AI companies, so they’ve vomited out a new one called Humans&. Because what we obviously need is another startup pretending it gives a toss about “human-centric” AI — as if slapping the word “human” in the name makes it any less of a data-hungry digital overlord.

These wizards of buzzwords just scored a $480 million seed round — yes, seed round, not Series A, not IPO, just seed — from venture capitalists who apparently found a few spare zeroes down the back of the couch. The company’s mission? Some convoluted bollocks about making AI “collaborative,” “ethical,” and “aligned with human values.” Yeah, right. Next thing you know, their model will be updating its Terms of Service in fine print that basically says, “We own your soul, click OK to continue.”

They’re allegedly building “transparent, safe models” that will “empower humans” — which roughly translates to “we’ll charge you a fortune for some AI tool that still hallucinates but now says ‘please’ before lying to you.” They’ve got ex–Google, Anthropic, and xAI folks, because nothing says “trust us” like a Frankenstein’s lab assembled from the same people who started this autonomous nightmare in the first place.

The valuation? Nobody’s saying, but with that kind of cash flying around like confetti at a Silicon Valley wedding, you can bet it’s somewhere between “absurd” and “what the actual fuck.” Investors are probably drooling into their Patagonia vests thinking this is the second coming of the AI Messiah. Spoiler: it’ll just end up being another tool for generating endless decks about “responsible innovation” while the servers quietly melt down from overuse.

Reminds me of the time some bright spark in IT said we needed a “more human helpdesk chatbot.” We got one — it cried when yelled at, refused to reboot anything after 5 p.m., and demanded a day off for “mental health.” I deleted it, wiped the logs, and called it a feature.
