1Password Finally Figures Out Phishing Exists – Bravo, You Late Bastards
So, 1Password has finally dragged its collective arse into the 21st century and added a goddamn pop-up warning when some poor sod stumbles onto a *suspected* phishing site. About bloody time, right? Because apparently, it took endless phishing scams and users losing accounts for them to realize, “Oh shit, maybe our fancy password thingy should actually *warn* people.” Genius.
The new feature is part of their ongoing “Phishing-resistant sign-in” protection — or as I like to call it, “Why the hell didn’t you do this five years ago?” They’re integrating something called “Passkeys” and some clever half-decent AI mumbo-jumbo to tell you when a website looks dodgy. You’ll get a blaring pop-up telling you, “Hey dummy, maybe don’t type your master password into ‘1passw0rd.evil.biz.’” Revolutionary stuff.
This magic works by comparing login domains against your saved ones and known phishing indicators. In plain bastard language, it’ll scream at you if you’re about to hand over your credentials to some asshole in a basement with a hoodie and a sense of humor. Finally, something that might save a few users from their own stupidity — not that it’ll stop the truly determined morons, but baby steps, right?
The pop-ups are rolling out in the desktop browser extensions and mobile apps, meaning everyone can now enjoy a little more hand-holding before they nuke their accounts. 1Password pompously claims this will help protect against “phishing at scale,” but let’s be real – it’s basically training wheels for anyone too trusting to notice that PayPal.spooky.cn isn’t legit.
Still, credit where it’s due – better late than never, even if they’ve arrived fashionably late to the security party wearing a dunce cap.

Reminds me of the time some genius in accounting called me at 3 AM because “the computer wouldn’t start.” Turns out, the bastard had unplugged it to charge his phone. Some people need pop-up warnings for life itself.
