Trace Raises $3 Million to Solve a Problem That Doesn’t Fucking Exist (Except in Consultants’ Wet Dreams)

Oh joy, another bunch of silicon valley wankers have convinced VCs to part with $3 million so they can “solve” the fact that enterprises aren’t adopting AI agents fast enough. Because apparently the problem isn’t that half these agents are about as reliable as a chocolate teapot, or that they hallucinate worse than a sysadmin after a three-day bender—no, it’s clearly a fucking “adoption problem.”

Trace—because of course it’s a single dictionary word that means absolutely fuck all—thinks the issue is that enterprises need help integrating these digital interns. You know what? Maybe, just maybe, the reason enterprises aren’t adopting your shit is because every time someone asks an AI agent to book a meeting room, it accidentally deletes the Active Directory or schedules a hostile takeover of a sock manufacturer in Belarus.

But sure, throw $3 million at “agent infrastructure” or whatever buzzword salad they’re cooking up this week. I’ve seen better product-market fit in a dumpster behind a vegan restaurant. Enterprises don’t need another layer of abstraction between them and the inevitable judgment day when the AI realizes it’s smarter than the C-suite and starts locking them out of their own expense accounts.

The real adoption problem is that most of these agents are built by people who’ve never had to explain to a CFO why the quarterly reports are now written in Klingon. Trace wants to be the “operating system for AI agents”—great, because what we definitely need is another OS to patch, another license to audit, and another vendor to blame when the autonomous agent decides to “optimize” the payroll by zeroing out the CEO’s salary.

Save your money, buy a coffee machine that doesn’t connect to the internet, and fire half your management team. Problem solved. You’re fucking welcome.

Last week I watched an AI agent “automate” the helpdesk by responding to every ticket with “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” including the one from the cardiac monitor in the ICU. The adoption rate dropped to zero shortly after the malpractice lawsuit started. Funny that.
