Anthropic vs. the Pentagon, the SaaSpocalypse, and why competitions is good, actually

Oh Look, Another Fucking Tech Podcast About Money and Death

For fuck’s sake. There’s a special place in hell reserved for people who think 45 minutes of tech executives verbally fondling each other counts as “content.” This week we’ve got Anthropic—those pretentious AI safety tossers—finally admitting that morals don’t pay the AWS bills, so they’re crawling to the Pentagon with their tongues out like the good little war profiteers they were always destined to be.

“But we have a responsible scaling policy!” Yeah, and I have a responsible drinking policy—doesn’t mean I’m not hammered by 10 AM when the lusers start flooding the ticket queue. These Anthropic pricks are building the same surveillance and automated killing tools as everyone else, just with extra steps and a sanctimonious blog post about “constitutional AI” while they cash checks signed by generals who think Python is a type of snake.

Then there’s the SaaSpocalypse. Oh no, software-as-a-service companies are imploding because they spent five years burning VC money on ping-pong tables and “synergistic paradigm shifts” instead of, I don’t know, making a product that doesn’t require seventeen microservices and a prayer to load the login page? Cry me a river, you subscription-model parasites. Half these companies are just Excel spreadsheets with a Node.js wrapper and a $200/month price tag. Let them burn. I’ll warm my hands on the dumpster fire and roast marshmallows over their redundant Kubernetes clusters.

And apparently these mouth-breathers “discover” that competition is good. No shit. Really? Having more than one company in a market lowers prices and increases innovation? Wow, give that journalist a Pulitzer for stating the bleeding obvious. Next they’ll explain that water is wet, backups are good, and users are thick as pig shit. I’ve seen smarter life forms growing on the inside of a toilet bowl in the server room.

*I once convinced a CTO that “defense contracting” meant contracting actual defenses—like the autoimmune kind—and watched him spend six months trying to sell antibody subscriptions to the Army. He got a medal. I got promoted. This industry is fucked beyond repair.*
