Darktrace Acquires Mira Security

Ugh, Another Acquisition

Seriously? Darktrace Bought *Another* Company.

Right, so listen up, because I’m only saying this once. Apparently, Darktrace – those AI-powered detection wankers – have decided they weren’t bloated enough and bought Mira Security. Mira does Managed Detection and Response (MDR), specifically for SaaS applications like Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and Google Workspace. Basically, they watch cloud stuff for bad guys.

The point? Darktrace wants to be a “complete” cybersecurity platform. Because apparently, just having AI that *claims* to find everything isn’t enough; they need to actually *do* something about it too. They’re shoving Mira’s services into their existing product line, promising better visibility and response times for cloud threats. Expect more marketing bullshit about “autonomous response” and how this is the future of security.

Honestly? It’s just consolidation. Bigger company, bigger price tag, same problems. They’ll probably integrate it poorly, raise prices, and then wonder why customers are annoyed. Don’t even get me started on the overlap in functionality – redundant systems everywhere. It’s a mess waiting to happen, I tell ya.

Oh, and they’re touting this as good for their partners? Yeah, right. More likely it means fewer options and more control by Darktrace. Don’t believe the hype.

Speaking of acquisitions, I once saw a company buy a smaller firm solely because they had a really good coffee machine. Seriously. The CEO was obsessed with lattes. That’s about as much strategic thinking as goes into most of these deals. Don’t expect anything brilliant from this one either.
