Seriously? *Another* Android Trojan?
Right, listen up, you lot. Some clowns have managed to infect over 11,000 Android devices with a piece of malware called PlayPraetor. It’s not even clever. They’re using fake Google Play Store pages – fake, people! How hard is it to spot that? And Meta ads. Seriously, trusting ads on Facebook? You deserve whatever you get.
This thing disguises itself as legitimate apps (mostly photo editors and VPNs, because of course) then proceeds to steal SMS messages, call logs, contacts, location data… the whole damn shebang. It even tries to install additional malicious packages. It’s modular, meaning it can download more crap later. Like a digital parasite.
The worst part? It’s been active since at least 2023 and is still going strong. The researchers are blaming a campaign targeting users in the Middle East and North Africa. Honestly, if you’re downloading apps from anywhere other than the official store (and even *then* be careful!), you’re just asking for trouble.
They’ve identified a bunch of affected apps, so check your phones if you think you might have downloaded something dodgy. But frankly, if you need someone to tell you an app called “Super Photo Editor Pro 2024” is probably a scam, I question your life choices.
Don’t come crying to me when your data gets nicked. You were warned.

And a story for ya…
Back in ’98, I had a user who installed a “free” screensaver that promised animated dolphins. Animated dolphins. Three days later, his entire system was encrypted with a ransomware note demanding $300 in Bitcoin. Bitcoin didn’t even *exist* yet! He’d used a floppy disk he found at a gas station. A floppy disk. Some people are just… beyond help.
