Hive0163 Uses AI-Assisted Slopoly Malware for Persistent Access in Ransomware Attacks

Great, Just What We Fucking Needed: AI-Assisted Malware from Hive0163

Oh for fuck’s sake. As if my week wasn’t already shit enough dealing with Dave from Accounting trying to open an Excel file named “Invoice_Please_Double_Click.exe”, now I’ve got to worry about Hive0163 and their new toy—the ridiculously named “Slopoly” malware.

Yes, you read that right. These bastards have decided that regular old ransomware wasn’t annoying enough, so they’ve strapped a fucking AI to it. Because apparently, we needed machine learning to help criminals maintain persistent access to networks. Like these cyber-wankers needed any more help staying inside your systems after you’ve already fucked up the patching schedule for the third consecutive quarter.

Slopoly. Sounds like a board game for people who enjoy watching paint dry while their infrastructure burns. Except instead of collecting $200 when you pass Go, these shitheads are encrypting your SharePoint and demanding Bitcoin. And now it’s “AI-assisted,” which means it can probably learn your network topology faster than you can figure out where the coffee machine is.

The persistent access component is the real kick in the teeth here. While you’re busy resetting passwords and telling the CEO that “no, we can’t just turn it off and on again,” this digital hemorrhoid is using AI to adapt, evade detection, and probably write better code than your entire dev team. It’s like playing chess against a computer that actively hates you and knows where you buried your backup tapes.

And let’s be honest, you’re not ready for this shit. You’ve got Windows 7 boxes still running in the warehouse because Gary says the label printer “only works on the old OS.” Your “next-gen firewall” was next-gen back when Bush was president, and your incident response plan is a Post-it note saying “CALL BOB” with a number that was disconnected in 2019.

So yeah, Hive0163 is out there using artificial intelligence to deploy artificial misery. Maybe it’s time to dust off that cattle prod and pay a visit to whoever approved Remote Desktop being open to the internet, because at this rate, Slopoly is going to make monopoly of your data, and you’ll be the one passing Go directly to the unemployment line.

Anecdote: Reminds me of the time I “accidentally” configured the UPS to deliver 240 volts to the workstation of that consultant who kept suggesting we “move everything to the blockchain.” The smell of burning silicon mixed with the sweet, sweet sound of him screaming that his PowerPoint was gone… almost makes up for having to deal with AI-powered ransomware. Almost.
