A writer is suing Grammarly for turning her and other authors into ‘AI editors’ without consent

Grammarly’s Latest Clusterfuck: Turning Writers Into Unpaid Digital Slaves

Oh for fuck’s sake. Just when you thought the AI grift couldn’t get any more soul-crushingly parasitic, Grammarly decides to treat professional writers like training data cattle. Some poor sod discovered that while they were busy correcting their own typos, Grammarly was quietly harvesting their blood, sweat, and tears to build an AI replacement for exactly the job they were doing.

Because apparently, consent is just a mythological concept like “unlimited cloud storage” or “honest marketing.” These bastards took human expertise—the actual craft of editing—and fed it into the machine learning meat grinder to spit out automated shit that undercuts the very people who built it. It’s the digital equivalent of inviting someone to dinner, stealing their wallet, and then charging them rent for sitting in your fucking chair.

And the kicker? They didn’t even have the common courtesy to ask. Just clicked “accept terms and conditions” like we all do, and suddenly you’re an unpaid AI trainer. Congratulations, you’re now a digital sharecropper in the algorithmic plantation. Hope you enjoy watching your own obsolescence being manufactured in real-time with your own goddamn keystrokes.

The lawsuit? About fucking time. Maybe this’ll teach these Silicon Valley vampires that “move fast and break things” doesn’t include breaking basic copyright law and human dignity. But probably not. They’ll just update the EULA in 2pt font and keep harvesting souls.

Reminds me of the time I “optimised” the company backup system to include all user keystrokes for “quality assurance.” Management loved the efficiency gains until they realised I’d trained the AI to automatically generate their quarterly reports using nothing but their own passive-aggressive Slack messages and browser history. Suddenly everyone cared about consent. Funny that.
