Microsoft accidentally confirms GPT-5, GPT-5-Mini, GPT-5-Nano ahead of launch

GPT-5? Seriously?

Microsoft Leaks Future AI Models, Because Apparently Security is Optional

Oh, for the love of all that is holy… Microsoft. They’ve gone and done it again. Some internal documentation – because *obviously* they can’t keep a goddamn secret – spilled the beans on their next generation of GPT models: GPT-5, GPT-5 Mini, and GPT-5 Nano. Like we needed more AI crap flooding the internet.

GPT-5 is supposed to be…better. Shocking, I know. They’re touting “human-level understanding” which translates to “it’ll probably hallucinate even *more* convincingly.” GPT-5 Mini is for mobile devices – because everyone needs a slightly less powerful version of something they don’t really need on their phone. And GPT-5 Nano? Don’t bother, it’s just for testing and internal use. So basically, more toys for the suits to break.

The documentation also mentioned some new features like video understanding and improved reasoning skills. Yeah, right. I’ll believe that when I see it not spewing absolute nonsense about cats driving cars. They’re aiming for a summer 2024 launch, which means plenty of time to overhype something that will inevitably disappoint.

Honestly, the whole thing is just… irritating. They can’t even *launch* things properly without pre-leaking everything. What a bunch of amateurs.

Speaking of leaks, I once had a sysadmin accidentally leave the root password for a critical server in a Slack channel. A *Slack channel*. The audacity. It was only discovered when some junior dev asked what “password123” did. Some people shouldn’t be allowed near computers, let alone AI development.
