Agent 365 GA and Copilot Cowork: new M365 AI agent controls

Agent 365 Goes GA, Copilot Starts Coworking, and Admins Get Yet More Knobs to Twiddle (Fuck Me)

Alright, listen up. It looks like Microsoft has shoved Agent 365 out the door and slapped a shiny General Availability sticker on it, because obviously what the world needed was more AI agents running around your M365 tenant like caffeinated interns. Alongside this, Copilot “coworking” is now a thing, which basically means multiple AI agents can collaborate inside Microsoft 365 apps. Yes. Multiple. Because one wasn’t already annoying enough.

The article explains that Microsoft has finally realized admins might want to, oh I don’t know, control this shit. So they’ve added new AI agent controls for Microsoft 365. You get governance options to decide who can create agents, where those agents can run, and what data they can shove their grubby silicon fingers into. Revolutionary stuff, right?

These controls plug into the usual Microsoft admin hellscape: Microsoft 365 admin center, Entra ID, Purview, and Graph permissions. Translation: if you already hate managing M365, congratulations — now you get to manage AI agents too. Permissions, access scopes, and data boundaries are front and center so your AI doesn’t accidentally summarize the CEO’s email and dump it into a Teams chat called “Lol Finance.”

Microsoft also wants you to feel safe, so there’s talk of auditing, compliance, and security controls. Agents respect existing tenant boundaries, sensitivity labels, and policies — at least in theory. Because nothing screams “trustworthy” like “it should work as designed.” Spoiler: it’ll break at 3 a.m. on a Sunday.

Bottom line: Agent 365 is live, Copilot agents can now play together, and admins get more levers to pull so the AI apocalypse happens slightly slower and with better logging. It’s powerful, it’s complicated, and it’s another flaming dumpster fire you’ll be expected to understand immediately.

Anecdote time: This reminds me of the time management rolled out a “self-service” portal and then asked why nothing worked after everyone clicked every option at once. Same shit, different decade — only now the mistakes talk back to you in natural language.
