Anthropic Goes After Small Business Owners (Because Enterprise Isn’t Enough)
Alright, listen up. It turns out Anthropic has decided that selling shiny AI toys only to mega-corps with infinite budgets is boring as fuck. So now they’re eyeing small business owners — you know, the poor bastards running on caffeine, duct tape, and unpaid invoices — as their next big customer segment.
According to TechCrunch, Anthropic is pitching Claude as the AI that can help small businesses do everything they’re too understaffed, overworked, or clueless to do themselves. Customer support? Marketing copy? Internal docs? Sure, dump it on the AI and pray it doesn’t hallucinate your business into bankruptcy. The message is basically: “You don’t need a giant IT department, just give us your credit card and shut the fuck up.”
They’re packaging Claude in ways that won’t instantly terrify non-technical owners — think simpler onboarding, business-friendly features, and less of the “read our 400-page API documentation, asshole” vibe. Anthropic wants to be the calm, responsible AI vendor, as opposed to the others lighting shit on fire and calling it innovation.
Of course, this is also about money. Enterprises are slow, annoying, and lawyer-infested. Small businesses? There are millions of them, and if you can skim a few bucks a month from each, congratulations — you’ve built a money-printing machine without having to kiss a CIO’s ass.
So yeah, Anthropic is betting that mom-and-pop shops, startups, and other scrappy operators want an AI assistant that won’t accidentally nuke their brand or leak customer data all over the internet. Sensible? Maybe. Altruistic? Don’t be a dumb shit — it’s still capitalism.

This whole thing reminds me of the time management bought “easy-to-use” software for a five-person office and then called IT because nobody could log in. Same shit, new decade. Only difference is now the helpdesk is an AI, and it’s just as pissed off as I am.
