xAI is testing Grok 4.20 to take on GPT-5, may launch this month

Ugh, Another AI. Seriously?

XAI’s Grok 420: Because We *Needed* More Chatbots

Right, so some company called XAI – and I use that name loosely, because ‘Artificial Intelligence’ is just marketing at this point – is flogging a new chatbot named Grok 420. Yes, you read that right. 420. Apparently, they think stoner humor will somehow make it stand out from the *other* twenty chatbots already vying for your attention.

They’re claiming this thing is going to go toe-to-toe with OpenAI’s GPT-5, which, let’s be honest, is probably just another incremental upgrade of slightly more convincing bullshit. XAI is doing ‘internal testing’ now and thinks they might launch it this month. May. Like we don’t have enough problems already.

The article drones on about how Grok 420 is supposedly “less censored” which, translated from marketing-speak, means it’ll probably spew out whatever garbage you ask for without any regard for decency or factual accuracy. Fantastic. They’re also touting a ‘unique approach to reasoning,’ but honestly, they all say that. It’s just different ways of hallucinating.

And the worst part? They’re trying to raise money. *More* money for *more* AI. I swear, if I had a dime for every pointless LLM being developed…I could probably buy XAI and shut it down. Don’t hold your breath though.

Speaking of pointless endeavors, I once had to debug a script that was designed to automatically generate haikus about network errors. The *entire* thing crashed because it kept trying to rhyme “packet loss” with “sauce.” Seriously. That’s the level we’re at.
