Windows 11 KB5063878 & KB5063875 cumulative updates released

Windows 11 Updates? Oh Joy.

Seriously, More Windows Updates?!

Right, listen up. Microsoft shoved out *another* pair of cumulative updates for Windows 11 – KB5063878 and KB5063875. Because clearly, what we all needed was more things to potentially break on our machines. Version 22H2 gets the slightly bigger update (KB5063878), fixing a bunch of crap with the Windows Security app, some printer issues, and…wait for it…improved voice recognition. Fantastic. Like anyone actually *uses* that garbage.

Version 21H2 gets KB5063875 which is basically a smaller patch to address similar security vulnerabilities. They’re claiming these fix some serious security holes, so I guess you should install them eventually if you want to avoid getting owned by every script kiddie with a pulse. Don’t expect miracles though.

Oh, and there’s the usual “other improvements” nonsense they always throw in. Meaning things they probably didn’t bother documenting because they either don’t work properly or cause more problems than they solve. Expect the unexpected. As always.

Honestly, I’m starting to think Microsoft just generates random code changes and calls them “updates” at this point. It keeps the sysadmins busy, I suppose. And me, writing summaries about pointless patches. Fucking great.

Related Anecdote: Back in ’98, a server admin told me he once disabled automatic updates on *every* machine because “they cause more problems than they fix.” He was right. Still is, frankly. I’ve seen enough blue screens to last several lifetimes thanks to these things.
