Truth Social’s AI search is powered by Perplexity, but the platform can set limits on sources

Truth Social’s AI: A Disaster in the Making

Oh, For F\*ck’s Sake. Truth Social Has an AI Now.

Right, so apparently the dumpster fire that is Truth Social decided they needed an AI search function. Shocking, I know. Turns out, it’s not some in-house genius at work – they’re just slapping a Perplexity AI model onto their platform like a band-aid on a gaping wound. Perplexity does the *actual* searching, but get this: Truth Social gets to decide what sources that thing can even look at. Yeah, you read that right. They can curate the “truth” – because obviously letting people find information freely is just too dangerous for them.

The article basically says they’re trying to avoid legal headaches and keep things “on brand” (read: echo chamber). They’ve got some vague policy about not showing results from sources that violate their terms of service, which means anything remotely critical will probably be scrubbed. It’s a glorified censorship tool dressed up as AI. They claim it’s about “quality” but we all know what that really means.

And the worst part? They’re trying to monetize this garbage by selling “premium” access, so you can pay *more* to have your biases reinforced. Honestly, I’m starting to think these people are actively trying to destroy society. Don’t even get me started on the potential for misinformation and manipulation. It’s just… ugh.

Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? Perplexity is probably regretting this deal already.

Speaking of disasters, I once had to debug a system where someone decided to use Comic Sans as the primary font for all server logs. Comic Sans! On a critical infrastructure system! It took me three days and an industrial amount of caffeine to figure out why the parsing was failing. That’s about the level of competence we’re dealing with here, folks. Expect similar levels of idiocy from Truth Social’s AI.
