Google’s New Shiny “Disco” Toy — Because Making Tabs Into Apps Is Apparently Innovation Now

Oh great, just what the world needed — another half-baked Google experiment with a fancy AI name. This time it’s called “Disco”, which sounds more like a forgotten nightclub than a bleeding-edge tech tool. Google says this Gemini-powered gizmo will “magically” whip your messy pile of browser tabs into neat little web apps. Because clearly, managing tabs has been humanity’s greatest unsolved fucking problem.

Apparently, you open Chrome, click a few buttons, and BOOM — Google’s new pet project turns whatever internet dumpster fire you’ve got open into a web app. They’re trying to sell it as productivity gold, like it’ll stop people from drowning in 47 tabs between Gmail, Docs, and three AI chatbots that all lie slightly differently. And yes, it uses the Gemini model (because if you’re Google, every damn feature now needs to be “AI-powered” to get you in the headlines).

They claim “Disco” will detect patterns, automate workflows, and maybe even fetch you a coffee while it’s at it — though it’ll probably just chew up RAM like a starving hippo and crash right when you need it. But hey, Google’s probably already planning to kill it off in 18 months anyway, right after you finally figure out what the hell it’s supposed to do. Classic.

So yeah, Google’s turned our lazy click habits into a product, slapped “Gemini” on it, and expects applause. I’ll start clapping right after their servers stop auto-logging me out of everything once a week.
