Microsoft: Classic Outlook bug prevents opening encrypted emails

Microsoft Screws Up Outlook (Again) – Classic Edition Edition

Well, surprise, surprise — Microsoft has managed to once again trip over its own shoelaces. This time, the good ol’ “Classic” Outlook decided it doesn’t fancy encrypted emails anymore. Yeah, that’s right — the bloody thing croaks when you try to open an encrypted message. Because who the hell needs security to actually, you know, work?

Apparently, this charming little catastrophe started after a recent update. Users now get the equivalent of Outlook shouting, “Nope, can’t do that, sod off” whenever they attempt to open encrypted content. So, if your organization relies on encrypted comms, congratulations, you’ve just been digitally pantsed by Redmond’s finest.

Microsoft, in its infinite wisdom, has confirmed the cock-up and says it’s “investigating” — which is corporate speak for “we’re trying to figure out which intern pressed the shiny red button marked ‘Break Everything’.” Supposedly, they’ll fix it in a future update. Because yeah, what’s more reassuring than waiting god-knows-how-long for another dodgy patch that might just set something else on fire?

Oh, and the best part? There’s no proper workaround short of reverting to older builds or using the flaky new Outlook app, which most folks hate about as much as a root canal in a discount dentist’s chair. Classic Microsoft workflow: break, apologize, patch, repeat.

Reminds me of the time I sent an encrypted message to management titled “URGENT FIX THIS SHIT” and watched them panic because they couldn’t open it. Guess Classic Outlook’s been taking management lessons.
